Cream together:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs

Sift together:
1 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Add dry mixture alternately with 1/2 cup milk to the creamed mixture.

Lastly, add:
1/2 cup chopped nuts grated rind of 1 lemon

Turn into buttered loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Combine together: 1/4 cup sugar and juice of 1 lemon

Pierce holes in the top of the bread after removing it from the oven. Pour the lemon and sugar mixture over the top
and let it stand 1 hour to cool.
