Tbs. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbls. butter
1/2 can apple pie filling

slices French Bread 1/2" thick
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, well beaten
3/4 cup milk
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Dot bottom of 8" square pan with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange
half of the bread slices over the sugar, trimming to fit. Cover each slice with
pie filling and sprinkle with cinnamon. Place remaining bread slices on top of
filling. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over top of bread slices. Cover &
refrigerate overnight.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Turn upside down on a serving
plate. Let stand 5-10 minutes before serving. Accompany with warm maple syrup.
Garnish with fresh apple slices. Serves four.
